Product Description

Students will use a short informational text about plastics, and how long they take to break down in the environment. From their initial read, they will determine the PURPOSE of the article, then reread, pulling information pertaining to the purpose (showing how long different types of plastic take to break down) from the article. They'll take this information, and organize it into a properly formatted data table.

Once they've created their table, they'll use it to respond to some questions about the different types of plastics.

To finish, they'll identify some alternative materials that could be used in place of two of the plastic materials.

My students have had great discussions around this worksheet, in addition to getting some practice with creating data tables from information.

An answer key is also included.
