Thank you for visiting my store!
This is a fun activity for students focused on creative writing.
Students can work in pairs, small groups, or individually to write their own fable!
It is NOT necessary to have an entire fable unit taught before/during this activity in order for the writing to be a success. The students simply need to understand that a fable is a type of story that typically has a lesson (this is also mentioned multiple times on the direction sheet!). So a fable unit is not required, although I'm sure it would be useful.
It IS required that your students understand the literary elements (characters, plot, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution).
The download includes:
1. A direction sheet--with a short explanation of a fable as well as examples. An easy to understand list of what is necessary in the story. Numbered directions for completing the story.
2. A graphic organizer with the literary elements (characters, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution), as well as a section for the lesson within the story
3. Two pages to use for publishing
It is SO fun for me when the students can get creative in their writing and a fable is an excellent opportunity for that!
