This activity is fun for the students while requiring them to utilize their knowledge of words, vocabulary, grammar, and creative writing ability.
I have included a list of syllables that teachers can print out and cut up or simply give them a list to work from. Students are asked to take the syllables and figure out a name for their monster by rearranging the syllables a couple of times in different sequences. They are then asked to provide 10 adjectives that describe their monster's abilities and characteristics. This then concludes with a writing prompt asking students to write about what would happen if a person stumbled onto their creation. They are asked to use interesting, descriptive language instead of simple adjectives.
