The purpose of this activity is to encourage students to think about what they are solving for before trying to solve. Many times, students scramble to create an equation without putting thought into why those numbers are used in the order they are intended. This activity gives students a real-world scenario. The students are asked to make a quick guess of what they think the answer will be, make a drawing, create and solve the equation, then write what their answer means. 10 Problems are included.
Included are sample answers and an answer key.
