While looking for a more meaningful way for my first graders to practice identifying numbers on a ten-frame, we put together these simple Creation Ten-Frame Accordion books. You can easily adapt this activity to be a center activity where students put the individual cards in the order God created things or have them create their own booklets.
To create the accordion books we made, students filled in the numbers in their best, neatest handwriting and filled in the ten-frame to show the same number. They then drew pictures illustrating what God created on that day. After coloring, students cut around the frames and glued them on strips of paper (12x18” cut on the hotdog fold and glued end to end).
My students were so excited about how they turned out and had a blast practicing ten-frame identification up to seven. I loved seeing how creative my students were and was pleased with the opportunity to incorporate our Awesome God into a math lesson!
