This is a zip folder that has three different files for a brain representation project. It asks students to creatively represent the right and left sides of the brain. They are to show the idea of the analytical side vs the creative side.
This zip folder contains:
-A 12 pg powerpoint that gives examples and outlines the project
-a two-page assignment sheet that outlines the project, gives suggestions, steps, and and outlines criteria, and has a reflection and personal assessment piece
-a 5 point marking Rubric with 4 categories of criteria.
I have done this project with Grade 9s, and it would be suitable for some middle school students or up to grade 11. Possible adaptations to this assignment could be to make it a self-portrait of the student's brain. It has been set up as a mixed media piece or to let students' choose their materials, but it could be adapted so that it is a specifically a painting or drawing project. This project makes use of symbolism, surrealism, and/ or pattern, shape, line, colour, and tone.
