Description
Sometimes students needs extra practice and reminders of how to listen. Ok, they need it a lot! The concept of Listening Lessons is after the teacher has taken away 3 behavior points or Class Dojo points, the child then needs to meet with the teacher at recess or before lunch and even after school (depends when the points are lost).
Upon meeting with the teacher, the teacher has the student do various "listening lesson" tasks. Depending on the child, if they are listening, and how many behavior points were lost will determine how many tasks you give.
The tasks are active tasks such as: Walk heel-toe to the basketball pole and skip back or scissor walk to the trash bin, pick up 2 pieces of trash, etc.
Included
- 16 sample Listening Lesson ideas and sample questions to ask students when the lessons begin and end. These questions keep students responsible for the behaviors they have done to deserve the lessons.
Students do not like these lessons. They seem fun at first, but then they realize that they have lost time with friends.
NOTE: This is not losing recess as the student is staying active throughout the entire time. I do not recommend that this take the entire recess time.
This does take a few weeks for it to come full circle. I have several students who need listening lessons each break time. After a week, it tapers down and after 2 weeks or so, I am meeting with just 1-2 students a few times a week.
