When writing meaningful stories and essays, it is often believed that the more words the better. In other words, an increased number of words will increase understanding of time, mood, plot and character development. Often, the effort is measured in the quantity instead of quality of words. Although, when writing multiple page short stories, novellas or longer fiction, this may be true, there is an art to writing brief and poignant stories. Therefore, instead of providing a word minimum to meet there will be a strictly enforced word maximum.
The challenge, then, is to write a story in 50 words or less with a title that contains no more than 3 words. In other words, the entire story and title must take up only 53 words
The Creative Story Writing Workbook - A Full Story in 50 Words or Less, helps students through the process of choosing strong vocabulary words, polishing their stories and sorting the "necessary" information from that which is not needed to move their story along. They will also be required to outline and diagram their plots, ensuring that all major points within the plot are covered within the story.
Students will write 4 different drafts, polishing the story with each draft.
This will work for ALL grade levels!
