Do your kids struggle with character development or introducing their character? Are you tired of characters only being described as a "good guy" or "bad guy"? And who wouldn't be attracted to Lego?!
Use the posters:
-to better visualize and create their character
-for vocabulary development through explicit teaching
-for greater descriptive vocabulary use in writing
-to deepen vocabulary knowledge through the provided activity below, as it encourages the use and discussion of vocabulary
Possible activity for PHYSICAL APPEARANCE poster:
-To immerse students in the vocabulary, pair up students. Get PartnerA to orally describe their character using the vocabulary provided. Without showing PartnerA, PartnerB draws the character according to PartnerA's description. At the end, see if the character drawing looks accurate and have a good fun laugh.
Possible activity for NEGATIVE/POSITIVE CHARACTER TRAITS poster:
-Beforehand, cut out individual words. 1 set per group
-Work in groups of 3s to sort vocabulary into two categories--negative character traits and positive character traits
-These activities help students become more familiar with the vocabulary and more likely to refer to the posters for vocabulary during creative writing.
