This short powerpoint guides students through writing two short-form poems, haikus and cinquains. Haikus are a form of Japanese poetry with a 5-7-5 syllable form. Cinquains are five-line poems with specific form requirements. This powerpoint explains the form requirements for each poem and provides examples of each type. It also includes a scoring rubric that can be used for both poems. Each file in this resource is available in both PDF and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint and Word) forms.
