30 printable pages for students to discover and showcase their creative side. Each lesson is centered on an animated image of a dog in a bath, attacking a dog-catcher, running, catching a Frisbee, playing basketball, giving your sister a ride, piloting a plane, tangled in string, scratching a flea and digging a hole. Students give as much attention to the brainstorming (pre-writing) activities as the actual writing: listing three characters, describing three elements of the setting, and listing five things that will be in the story. Each lesson has four printable pages that will give your students a chance to practice their grade-level writing expectations:
- to describe the actions, thought and feelings of characters (CCSS.ELA.W.2.3).
- to use temporal words and transitional words or phrases to signal event order (CCSS.ELA.W.2.3 and 3.3c and 4.3c and 5.3c).
- to use dialogue (CCSS.ELA.W.3.3b and 4.3b and 5.3b).
- to provide a sense of closure (CCSS.ELA.W.3.3d and 4.3e and 5.3e).
