Ready to ignite the creativity of the young authors in your classroom?
These writing prompts are perfect for 3-6th graders. I created these prompts for my students as a quick and simple way to foster a love of writing. The writing ideas in my teacher manuals and from the district lacked a sense of fun for my 21st-century thinkers. It was evident that I needed to supplement with something that was easy to implement and would build my students' writing stamina.
There are 2 ways I use these prompts in my third-grade classroom:
-I project a prompt in the morning for students to journal about as they get settled in the morning. It is so fun to choose a couple kids to read their entries aloud to the class.
-Students choose a prompt from our "Write On!" can (a decorated tennis ball can) to write about during literacy center time. I like to have students write on the themed paper (included in the PDF files in this bundle) and then display their responses in the hall. My principal and other passers-by love to read the outpouring of my students' creative minds.
These sets are in the bundle:
(Please note the PowerPoint and the Pdf for each set include the same prompts- just a different format.)
Each set includes 24 prompts. That's a total of 288 prompts!
Each set comes as a PowerPoint file- perfect for displaying for a whole group, and a PDF task card set- perfect for printing on colored card stock and using as a literacy center activity.
