Creative writing should be just that: creative. The eight lessons in this bundle are meant to be done over a semester in between students exploring the craft through various prompts and their own imagination.
There are 8 power point lesson covering the following topics:
- Are You an Architect or a Gardner? (writing development preferences)
- Formatting and Punctuation
- Character Development
- The First Line
- The Danger of a Single Story (discussion with a Ted Talk)
as well as a graphic organizer for the architect activity, and skeletal and filled notes for the formatting and punctuation lesson. I recommend you complete the lessons in the above order, but you can change the order without any issue, as each lesson is self-contained.
The structure of this approach presents students with the core ideas surrounding the creative writing craft, while allowing them the flexibility to apply that information in a way that is meaningful to them.
All materials are editable.
