A Taunt and Boast is a fun writing exercise, where students must write a taunting poem in the voice of an arrogant persona. The reply, or boast, responds to the taunt in an equally confident voice. It is an excellent activity to try a new writing voice and for writing in meter, as both poems are to be written in a consistent meter. This powerpoint guides students on the requirements of a taunt and boast and gives suggestions on writing them. Sample poems are provided, as well as a rubric for scoring. Each file in this resource is available in both PDF and Microsoft Office (Word and PowePoint) form.
