This unit walks the students through the planning process to create a short story based on their interest. The students will learn about selecting a topic, creating a conflict, The difference between internal and external conflicts, ways to resolve their story and start their story, and a few ways to create characters for their story. Included with these steps is a set of examples that the teacher should use to help with the introduction of each of these ideas along with the directions on the outline. When the students have finished with this outline, they will have all of the work completed to write a well thought out short story. Most of my students' work were between 2 and 6 pages.
