This rubric provides a basic, uncomplicated way for teachers to assess fables written by students. It can also be adapted to other writing themes.
The rubric includes six essential characteristics of good writing, including a specific reference to the development of fables. Each characteristic is assessed by means of five descriptive scoring points. Students can also use this rubric as a self-assessment guide while they are developing their written work. This page can stand alone at a writing center, and it can also provide a framework for following up on a course of study about Aesop's fables.
