Product Description
Now, more than ever, students need to learn information literacy skills and have the ability to analyze what they read and view online for accuracy, credibility, and bias!

This purchase includes a 2-3 day lesson plan with the materials needed to teach students how to independently evaluate digital resources.

Students are given access to a Credible Sources Google Site and an Evaluating Digital Resources slide presentation featuring 25 modern, attractive slides.

The slide presentation includes the following topics: conducting effective keyword searches, looking at the website domain to determine who published the site, analyzing the source to check for bias, learning website credibility warning signs, and reviewing list of criteria that indicate the source is accurate and credible.

Also included is a link to a Flocabulary hip-hop website evaluation video that can serve as an engaging introduction to source credibility!

Once students view the slide presentation, it’s time for them to put their knowledge to the test!

Students will choose two websites on the same topic (six options are available) – 12 total linked websites are included for this practice.

No matter what topic they select, one of the sites they view is biased or a hoax site. The second site they choose to evaluate is considered credible and accurate.

Using a Google doc handout (2 options are available), students will evaluate both digital resources and determine whether they are credible sources!

A Website Evaluation Interactive Online Tutorial is also provided for early finishers or for an extension activity!

A complete pacing guide, all resource links, Teacher Notes, and an answer key for the evaluate websites activity is included.

March 2017: This resource has been updated and is featured on a new Google Site with updated resources! Buyers should download revised product.
