Crime Scene Activity: Analyzing Primary and Secondary Source Evidence

“The Case of the Student Teacher Gone Missing” is an activity that asks students to solve a crime based on their analysis of evidence. First students must classify the twelve pieces of evidence as primary or secondary source evidence. Then students must decide which type of evidence they will use: primary or secondary, and explain why. Finally, students will analyze each piece of relevant evidence to draw conclusion about who the guilty teacher might be.

You can use the case as is or personalize it to match your school and staff to up the engagement factor. It's a great activity for getting students to work cooperatively and practice speaking and listening skills.

Included:
*A student handout for analysis of primary and secondary sources
*Ready to print PDFs of the evidence, the crime scene report, and the suspect bios
*Editable documents to personalize for your school and staff
*Answer key
*Usage guide
*Digital usage guide for Google Classroom and other online learning management systems
