This Project Based Learning (PBL) assignment is created to teach students about Foreign Policy and Diplomacy in American Government by using a current event (the crisis in Crimea). Students are assigned a country of interest (Ukraine, Russia, the US, and England) and then they are asked to create a poster that outlines key information about the conflict area (a map), important figures that would be involved in making a foreign policy decision, the motivations of each country involved, and finally a detailed foreign policy plan. The project ends with a debate between all three nations. Whose interests and wants will prevail?
The assignment includes instructions and rubrics for each element. It also includes a debate format.
