This is something I designed as a visual prompt to students to help them remember the different comprehension strategies they can do with reading. I then developed it further for parents to use to support their children with comprehension at home. I also use it in the classroom as a way to bring many comprehension strategies together. The Critical Thinker's Hand has question prompts and hints for each strategy. It can be used to further understand Fiction or Non-Fiction texts.
I have received many compliments from teachers and parents about how wonderful this resource is.
It works best if this is sent home after the comprehension strategies of predicting, questioning, connecting, inferring and visualising have been taught at school.
