Big Idea: Global Conflicts (Animal Rights)
Curriculum: Selecting appropriate graphs, graphing rules, communicating and generalizing about the message of data
Used primarily for independent assessment of students, this task explores the issue of endangered species in Canada and the causes for and effects of that endangerment. Students independently must deconstruct the problem, choose an appropriate strategy, communicate about their work and apply their new found knowledge within the context of Conflict and Global Citizenship.
Includes the hand out for students with guiding prompts as well as an assessment rubric that follows the Ontario curriculum's Achievement Chart for Mathematics (Easily adaptable to other areas such as Common Core).
