Encourage students to practice higher order (critical) thinking and metacognitive skills and flexible thinking as they solve problems by analyzing sets of words to find common elements.
Students solve these fun puzzles by:
Understanding and comprehending connections between various words or ideas
Recognizing, analyzing and isolating patterns and characteristics
Thinking flexibly to approach problem-solving in new ways
Evaluating the strength of relationships
Finding and creating relationships using logical connections
These puzzles can be used as bell-ringers, challenges for early finishers, and best of all, as engaging games to inspire students while promoting valuable skills.
