• This resource is a supplemental activity to watching Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Film Collection. As of right now, it is available on Netflix but I make sure I have a DVD ready just in case there are any changes in the future.
o There is a synopisis of each short here if you’ve never seen them before. They are fun stories!
• My school district is moving towards a skills-based approach to content and the Social Studies department is spearheading this effort, so teaching these skills is a part of my “beginning of the year” agenda. This may not be the case for your district or course.
o You don’t have to keep the skills titles in front of the questions- they can easily be deleted and changed to numbers.
• I use this as a first or second day activity; it allows time for students that are absent or changing their schedule to come into class without having to make up content assignments. Plus it’s a gently ease into the new school year!
• This is a great activity for any age, ability, and subject, but may have to be differentiated. For example, with my Honors Global Studies students, they must answer all the questions in complete sentences but my learning support students only have to answer 2 or 3 of the questions. In addition, some of the vocabulary would be changed to differentiate the activity.
