*Do you want to find an easy way to support literary texts with video clips but feel that just watching a video clip in class is a waste of educational time?
*Do you believe that students need to learn to critically read all forms of texts, especially visual texts, in order to have a deeper understanding of the way information is presented?
Then you're my kind of teacher. =)
Enclosed is a sample lesson with a collaborative activity that pushes basic video watching into a hands-on informative experience for students. The accompanying worksheet/activity asks students to become an expert in a field of visual analysis, share findings with peers, and apply those findings to a deeper understanding of the overall text's meaning. The lesson comes with some variations, and the lesson, like all lessons, is incredibly adaptable to fit a variety of teaching times/needs.
