This is an attention hook built to model why students need to learn to read critically. I use it on the first day of class in conjunction with similar vocabulary and grammar games. It ties historical facts together in a way that helps to demonstrate why author's purpose is so important to consider. It would also be a good way to introduce persuasion, propaganda, or nonfiction.
A social studies teacher could use this to introduce Common Core Reading for Information skills into their classroom.
