Apples, Apples, Apples!! This crockpot applesauce recipe is so easy to make and the children are thrilled to make it. This is a great lesson to teach the children sequence of events because it is a memorable hands-on activity. It's also a great way to teach nutrition and the importance of making something with no preservatives. Give each child a job to help make the applesauce. I had each child take a scoop of apples and put it in the crockpot. The children were so proud of their creation and the smell in your classroom is beyond yummy! I saved baby jars from my baby and put some in each jar. It will fill about 15 baby food jars. I had each child design their own label and make a cute name like Anne's Amazing Applesauce. The labels were so adorable! I had parents come up to me and tell me what a great idea. One mother even said because of this lesson, her son will eat applesauce now!
When we were done making the applesauce, we discussed the steps in making the applesauce. Our class discussed the sequence in which we created the applesauce. We wrote it as a group using the key words-first, next, then, last. The children created their own recipe to take home and share with their family.
