Product Description

Are you the kind of teacher who's always looking for new ways to get your students engaged and excited about vocabulary?

We present to you Cross Word Search: TV Riddles, a fun bell ringer activity that combines SAT-level vocabulary with pop culture references your students will enjoy. This collection contains colorful activity pages that can be displayed on a smartboard or overhead projector so the entire class can solve them together! Answers are included at the end of the resource.

Fully Editable and No-Prep

Cross Word Search: TV Riddles is fully editable. All fonts used in this collection of puzzles are linked and are freely available to you, so you can download them and use them in your edits. Everything we create is no-prep and ready to go!

Why Choose Cross Word Search: TV Riddles for Your Students

These bell ringers are perfect for those last few minutes of ELA class time, or for starting the class period with some unusual verbal challenges. Perfect for busy teachers! This resource contains four puzzles that will help your students stretch their vocabulary. First, they solve the clues to find the words hidden in the word search grid. Once they've found all of the words, the remaining letters provide the answer to the television-themed riddles. You can display them for the entire class on a smart board or overhead projector; split your students into pairs or small groups to work on together; or print these out as individual worksheets for your early finishers.

Format Included

This is the color version of this resource, which is designed for use with an overhead projector or smart board, or to print and laminate for repeated use. If you want easy-to-print individual worksheets, please check out our black and white version, or the bundle that includes both versions.

Who is Puzzlemonster?

We are a husband and wife team of puzzle nerds and game developers - not teachers, but puzzle and game specialists. All of our puzzles are tested in real life before we launch them on TpT. We not only test for accuracy, we also test for solvability, fun, and that "x factor" that makes a puzzle into an enhanced gamelike experience.

Eric has invented puzzles his entire life and has a fun website dedicated to puzzles and puzzle games. He has shared his best puzzles only by email in recent years. Eric has a degree in English, an advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence, and is an Application Developer / Data Analyst for a school district in Oregon.

Friday is a maker-developer and helps bring Eric's puzzles to the world outside of his email list of puzzle nerds and writes stuff like what you are reading now. You can find her in the TpT forums and on social media - visit with her (me) on Twitter!
