This is a student tested three-day activity, which could be done as a review or as an assessment task. Works flawlessly.
It covers Quadratic and Trigonometric Functions, as well as Right Triangle Trigonometry.
Ideal for Grades 11 and 12.
On Day 1 students build suspension bridges in groups of 3.
On Day 2 and 3 students analyze and answer questions involving parabolas which the bridges form, as well as motion of the bridges and the positions of the persons on/under the bridges.
This project is a lot of fun and students can see the relationship between what they learn and real life applications.
