I created this assignment because my students wanted to know what was happening to characters that did not spend a lot of time on stage. I wanted my students to begin to think creatively about what was happening in the characters' minds during the trials when they were not "acting."
The assignment is for the students to create 10 diary entries, each with at least 25 sentences from the perspective of any character they choose.
The product includes a rubric with which to grade the finished product.
I usually give my students about a week and a half to complete the entries and I assign it during Act III.
