This packet fits nicely with any British Literature or poetry units. It can serve as an introduction to Anglo-Saxon Poetry. It ties British literature in with ancient Chinese poems as a cross-cultural comparison.
Comprised of four poems, each deals with the same topic -- crumbling ruins observed by the speaker. Students analyze each poem using the author's own SSHTT method. Additionally, students compare the poems to each other using that analysis, imagery and diction. Finally, students are asked to complete a project defending one of poems as better than the others.
This packet contains four poems, the SSHTT poetry analysis method handout, a comparison chart, and a project description, including a rubric. Please reach out to us if you have any questions before purchasing.
Thanks, and have a great school year!
