Learning is fun, active and engaging…or at least it is supposed to be. Too many of our academic colleagues and state legislators have lost this understanding, so social studies must lead the way back to the Promised Land. In the case of this activity, I mean that literally.
This is a simple, fun activity to get your students to think, move and learn about the battles between the iron men of Europe and the armies of Islam during the Crusades. Students will learn military ideas like flanking, holding the line, and the advantages of numbers and armor on the battlefield. The game requires flag football equipment, pinnies and ideally a large field or gymnasium (items are not included). Activity works best with large class sizes of at least over twenty students. This activity also works best when used following up my Arabs vs. Crusaders battle strategies assignment. If you have further questions about the activity after purchase, please do not hesitate to question. Have a great time.
