•The primary goal of a Cuadrícula Comunicativa is to help novice learners develop listening and speaking proficiency in Spanish.
Interpersonal Communicative Process
•This Cuadrícula Comunicativa encourages novices to use descriptive adjectives in a structured yet interpersonal oral activity during which students ask their classmates ¿Eres tú + [descriptive adjective]?
•Not only do students use descriptive adjectives when asking questions, but also when answering. Students can answer with a simple ¡No! or make it more challenging by requiring them to answer ¡No! ¡Yo no soy [adjetivo]!
•When students answer ¡Sí! ¡Yo soy [adjetivo]! they should sign the box that contains the adjective on the paper belonging to the student who is asking the question.
•After students obtain a signature in each grid, have them flip their sheets over and describe 10 classmates in writing using the answers from their grids as a reference.
•Then have students define each adjective on the grid that they did not use in a sentence.
•When students are answering questions, they are using the 1st person singular form of the verb SER.
•When students are asking questions, they are using the 2nd person singular form of the verb SER.
•When students are writing sentences, they are using the 3rd person singular form of the verb SER.
