Usage Guide for “Cuisines from Around the World” Graphic Organizers

Allow students to write in the boxes or cut and glue/tape pictures from print materials.

Encourage students to use a different colored pen or pencil to differentiate each cuisine. It is well-known color enhances learning
and memory.

Assign groups to one specific cuisine. Then bring all the groups together to share information.

Assign the cuisines you want students to research. Then, assign groups each of the categories of Grains & Breads, Fruits & Vegetables, and Proteins.

Differentiate by eliminating boxes based on student needs, interests, preferences, and skills. Add boxes back in as appropriate.

Suggested cuisines are Chinese, Japanese, American, German, Mediterranean, Early America, Native American, Oceanic, Ethiopian, Hawaiian, Coastal, Inland, Louisiana Creole, Vegetarian, Vegan, French, Mexican, Spanish, Amish, and Indian. Other various cuisines exist, of course, have students look into those if desired. These are simply suggestions to get you and your students started!
