Each year students are assigned a summer reading assignment to keep them engaged in literacy activities. Often, students are less than enthusiastic about the selections. This is the students' chance to have their voices heard! Students will be able to utilize their prior and learned knowledge/understanding regarding the language arts and literacy skills and strategies they have explored throughout the year to complete the cumulative activity described within their task sheet. Students can refer to the scoring checklists to accrue the highest score possible for this final activity/assessment of skill.
The goal is for all students to recall, synthesize and apply cumulative knowledge and understanding of strategies related to effective reading, writing, language, viewing, speaking and listening skills for seventh grade
*From a Twitch & Fidget perspective, this culminating activity was a huge success with our students. The assessments they came up with, as well as the rationales behind their book selection, were all very well thought out and engaging considering we were working on this activity during the final weeks of school.
