PPT in PDF format in Spanish reflects on how the indigenous roots of Hispanics is visible today in many elements. Great culture awareness of the indigenous people of the Americas.
I also like to create aware for the Native American tribes in the USA. Therefore, students compare and contrast how the indigenous roots of Native Americans are visible in both Latin American and USA.
I have them use a Venn Diagram and students also look up information for the tribes of Native Americans in the USA so that they can compare and contrast. Soon they become aware that many cities in the USA have Native American names such as Manhattan (NYC).
This lesson ties in nicely with Families and Communities unit. Students also research current events for events that are affecting the Native American community such as the pipeline.
Students then turnkey their research in the target language to the class. As a closing activity I have students write a composition in which they explain how the indigenous culture can been seen in many elements in society.

You might also in interested in a speech I translated. The speaker is a Native American and the speech is about immigration. I love this speech because it shows that regardless if you're from Latin America or USA, the Native Americans are still brothers and sisters and stand united.
