Students research their own cultural background by interviewing family members about their culture. They then come up with a creative component to represent their culture, which they will share with the class during a brief presentation. Finally, students will write a written reflection on the project, what they learned from their peers, what they found surprising, etc. I do this in conjunction in my unit on The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri.
