Students walk around the room and find a student for each one of the boxes. They may only use their name once and may only use another student's name once. After you determine most have finished- I usually have students sit down back at their seats when their done. Then, I display the 2nd page and with their elbow partner or table mates have them decide which category goes with each box and have them write it on a whiteboard- 1 per group. Next, I go through each category on the web and have students share their answers- how you do this you can decide- there are many methods- pick what's best for your kids- and discuss each aspect of culture and how it will relate to what we learn during the year. You can take as much or little time on each one. I usually judge it by the flow of class room discussion being had and questions asked. Once a topic has been discussed, they write the correct answer at the top of each box. This is a great Culture activity, beginning of year activity for students and/or getting to know you activity.
