For this project, students must research a country that is currently experiencing a conflict (or at least within the last 20 years). They must research basic information about the country, as well as cultural information. Once they have a basic understanding of the country, they will research the conflict that this country is experiencing. These conflicts can be war, poverty, natural disasters, drug/sex trafficking, etc. We also use this time to discuss internal vs. external conflict. They must also include ways to solve this conflict. Once they have completed the research, they will create a PowerPoint presentation and write a 2-3 page paper about their country and its conflict. A rubric to help with grading this project is also attached.
Many of my students do not have access to computers at home, nor do they have transportation to the public library.
Therefore, I give my students at least a month to complete this project because I want to give them time in the school computer labs to do research and complete the project.
