When reading a series of books to my class, I always like them to know a bit more about the author. If he/she has written so many wonderful books, I think they deserve the recognition! Here is a brief biography I made to use with my 1st graders about H.A. and Margaret Rey, the husband-wife author/illustrator duo who came up with Curious George, who is so fondly loved by children of all ages.
It is in the form of a paper book, 12 half pages total (prints on 7.) Students cut out pages and I staple together before we do a shared reading at the carpet. The words used in the biography are age appropriate for 1st grade. The book has real photos pulled from various online sources. Unfortunately, it cannot be copied 2-sided in a way that allows for it to be put together correctly.
P.S. If you like this simple biography, check out my Laura Numeroff, Mo Willems, and Eric Carle, Kevin Henkes, and Jane O'Connor ones! I also have a cut and paste Kevin Henkes timeline in my store that is perfect for comprehension check after reading the biography. Check it out for $1!
