Go beyond the every day current event analysis with your middle and high school students. Students will choose one event currently occurring in the world and find two sources sharing the event. The two sources will be compared in many ways.
This current event analysis not only requires students to find the five W's, but also the point of view and bias in each article. Students create a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the reporting of the event by the different news outlets. Delve deeper with your students to summarize, discover if the article was shared accurately by one or both outlets, and develop questions the article makes the student wonder about.
A four point rubric is included.
