After years of teaching AP Government and Government I was tired of the traditional current event assignments - students find articles, write up summaries, share events… students would have the same events, they were not engaged in the news, and they were not relating the information back to the course using higher level thinking. I decided to make the current event process more relevant to the students, having them apply the information to the course, and the current political world and the students were more engaged. The task changes with each main topic area, each area offers students time to discuss current events in small groups and a larger group setting. Each area comes with teacher instructions to help facilitate the discussion.
Constitution and Federalism
