This is a great activity that helps the students summarize and analyze a news article. The students are required to write a summary of the article and give their opinion.
Students are also asked to identify unknown vocabulary words, determine author's point of view, and list two examples of how word choice affects the tone of the article.
Finally, the students are asked to come up with a new title for the article.
A grading rubric is also included. The rubrics are two to a page to save paper.
