Product Description
This is a short current events lesson designed to create discussion about the possible government default on 17 October 2013. Created on 13 October 2013, this lesson focuses on the characteristics of the debt ceiling, the possible consequences of a default, and the current political situation.

THIS DOWNLOAD INCLUDES
1) PowerPoint Slideshow -- includes a link to a video on background information to the debt ceiling, a link to a news video, and it guides the teacher through the discussion.
2) Student Worksheet - students answer the Who, What, Where, When, and Why questions, and they brainstorm reasons for why they believe the U.S. should or should not have a debt ceiling. This information can then be used to spark discussion and debate.
3) Answer Key
