This is a short current events lesson designed to create discussion about the navy yard shooting and its implications for gun regulation in the U.S. This tragedy occurred on 16 September 2013. In the time since then, new pieces to the puzzle have been slowly revealed to the public, and the debate about gun regulation and better governmental background checks has continued.
THIS DOWNLOAD INCLUDES
1) PowerPoint Slideshow - lists background information, includes a link to the news story video, and guides the teacher through the discussion.
2) Student Worksheet - students answer the Who, What, Where, When, and Why questions and they brainstorm the pros and cons of gun regulation. This information can then be used to spark discussion and debate.
