In the world of modern technology, news is everywhere. Our students are bombarded with information and need to be able to analyze what they hear, read and see.
Many of my students assume that if it is on the internet, on television, on the radio or in the newspaper, it must be true.
This packet is intended to help teach students to take a deeper look at the information provided by various forms of media.
When introducing this assignment, you will want to talk about from where we get our information. Have students list/brainstorm all the types of media we are exposed to each day.
Also, it is essential to review non-fiction text features and structure.
If interested, I also have Non-Fiction Text Features and Structures posters available for purchase.
This is a great tool to use for public speaking. I have students present their findings which usually leads to some great discussions.
