This activity is designed for high school Government or Civics Students, but might also work for advanced middle school students. After learning about the legislative branch, students will investigate the current make up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. They will find out who makes up the Congress--party affiliation, gender, age, and other demographic information.
Students will also know who is currently in leadership positions:
-Speaker of the House
-Senate President pro tempore
-Majority Leader in both the House of Representatives and Senate
-Minority Leader in both the House of Representatives and Senate
-Majority Whip in both the House of Representatives and Senate
-Minority Whip in both the House of Representatives and Senate
Additionally, students will identify who represents them by researching and reporting their own Senators and Representatives in the House.
To show accountability for their research, students will record their sources.
This resource includes an answer key that will be updated (for free!) with each new Congress.
**Current Answer Key Updated for 115th congress**
