Current events are a great resource to get students talking about what is going on in Spanish speaking countries. There are Spanish and English versions of the rubric, with slightly different instructions, based on the class ability level. Each student gets a different Spanish speaking country and they research a current event article. Students will fill out an answer sheet summarizing the main points of the article and give a brief presentation to the class about their Spanish country's current event.
Students can either present in front of the whole class or in small groups. Students can also take notes on what the others are saying so that they stay engaged throughout the entire activity.
