This Writing Assessment is designed for quick and easy assessment of a student’s basic writing, spelling and writing fluency skills. It can be used for initial special education assessments, formative assessments and summative assessments. It can be used for formative IEP assessments (progress reports), at the end of short units or in conjunction with small group lessons. If a student is working on writing fluency, spelling or basic writing skills it pairs great with fluency folders and graphing.

Use: The one page CBM includes a space for 1 minutes of “thinking” or planning and a space for 3 minutes of writing. Also included is an area to note the student's Total Words Written (TWW), Correctly Spelled Words (CSW) and Correct Word Sequences (CWS) in addition to any notes from the assessor.
