Through years of working with educators, we know that putting together a curriculum isn’t easy – especially when teaching Blender, open-source software that offers limited resources to instructors.
This is why, after months of research and work, we are launching our very own Blender Curriculum, paired with CG Cookie content, to help teachers springboard their class. In keeping with Blender’s open-source nature, the curriculum is free and available for use anywhere, by anyone.
WHAT IS THE CURRICULUM
The Curriculum is a package for teaching the 3D software Blender to beginners.
Based on a tried and tested method, the Curriculum blends CG Cookie training with in-class instruction. It is a detailed lesson plan that guides students from their very first interaction with Blender to being able to independently complete intermediate-level modeling and animation projects.
The Curriculum is based on CG Cookie’s Introduction to Blender flow. It is separated into 8 courses, totaling 90 hours of instruction time. Each course is divided into lessons with key learnings, lesson focus with tips, framework cross-referencing and grading rubrics, as well as useful classroom strategies. It also includes CG Cookie quizzes to quickly tests students’ knowledge in class.
WHO IS THE CURRICULUM FOR?
The curriculum is designed for a classroom of up to 30 students with no previous Blender knowledge.
The curriculum assumes the teacher’s working familiarity and experience with Blender, but because it has CG Cookie tutorials and courses integrated into it, advanced knowledge is not strictly required on the teacher’s part, especially if they have advanced experience with other 3D packages.
For instructors who already have their own curriculum, this resource can be used to supplement or expand an existing lesson plan.
IS A CG COOKIE SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED TO USE THIS?
The Curriculum is available to anyone to download and use as a template or starting point. To take full advantage of the Curriculum, however, we recommend CG Cookie group educator subscription, as CG Cookie tutorials are built into the Curriculum. http://cgcookie.com
