Product Description
Ready for something better when it comes to small groups, assessment, RTI, intervention, or gifted enrichment? These 4th grade differentiated word problem sets for Converting Inches, Feet, Yards, and Miles are more than a worksheet! This download is for converting customary length and distance and is scaffolded to ensure that students understand basic conversions for inches, feet, and yards and then are able to make more challenging measurement conversions. {4.MD.2} The math work required also supports students in practicing or reviewing Multiplication and Division of whole numbers.

These customary conversion word problems are designed with three levels of mastery: "Building Blocks," "Goals," and "Stretching Beyond" tiered questions allow students to meet and exceed 4.MD.1 and 4.MD.2. In addition, you get 3 versions of each customary measurement assessment for length/distance (inches, feet, and yards) so that you have the resources you need to pre-assess, post-assess, assign independent practice, and MORE with different question sets!

What do the levels mean?

Building Blocks (••): pre-requisite skills and understandings that students need to have in order to meet grade-level expectations (a.k.a. GOALS •••). Building blocks may include 2nd and 3rd grade standards and are built from a lower form of the 4th grade standard.

Goals (•••): the “on grade level” expectations based directly on the 4th grade standards. You may also find some “Goal” questions that are based directly on the 3rd grade standards, but taken to the next level because it is an understanding that 4th graders need in order to be proficient with the focus concept.

Stretching Beyond (••••): “above grade level” expectations. The Stretching Beyond level provides you with assessment options to stretch and challenge students who easily meet grade-level expectations.
